Pumpkin Festival Haiku Contest

Limit 3 haiku on the theme “pumpkin/gourd” (not necessarily mentioned in the haiku). Poets from the area of ex-Yugoslavia are welcome to send haiku in their language; it will be translated into English and judged in the international section. Results announced at the Ivanic Grad Pumpkin Festival in October 2017 and published in Iris haiku journal.

Deadline: June 30, 2017.

Yamadera Bashō Memorial Museum English Haiku Contest

A haiku competition

are pleased to announce the haiku competition as follows.

Theme: A WHITE STORK
The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2017.

Please send ONE UNPUBLISHED HAIKU IN ENGLISH per author, not submitted anywhere else.

Style: with one kigo (a seasonal reference – if any), three lines, no strict syllable count but in the traditional Japanese kaiku pettern (5-7-5 sylables).
Please give your name and address with haiku in the body of your message.
The judging will be anonymous.
The judges’ names will be announced at the time of the awards.
The awards: A plaque and a White Stork haiku collection.

The results: Beginning of May at www.tri-rijeke-haiku.hr

The awarded authors will be informed by an e-mail message accordingly.
The awards will be given away on the Day of the White Stork in Croatia, August 24, 2017 or sent by mail to the awardees.

Concurs de haiku in Senegal

L’AMBASSADE DU JAPON AU SENEGAL ANNONCE LE LANCEMENT DE
LA 30
ème EDITION DU CONCOURS DE HAÏKU

Le concours de Haïku, organisé par l’Ambassade du Japon au Sénégal a trente sept ans.

L’Ambassade vient de lancer l’édition de cette année qui représente la 30ème de ce concours de poésie qui est aujourd’hui bien inscrit dans le calendrier culturel et académique sénégalais.

Les candidats peuvent déposer ou envoyer leurs poèmes à la Section Culturelle de l’Ambassade jusqu’au 28 avril 2017, dernier délai de participation. Les prix seront remis aux lauréats lors d’une cérémonie qui sera organisée en juillet 2017.

Pour rappel ; le Haïku est un court poème traditionnel japonais, ne dépassant pas 3 vers de 5, 7 et 5 syllabes, qui décrit le sens de l’harmonie de la nature et des émotions humaines. Comme pour les années précédentes, le thème est libre, les deux langues officielles du concours sont le français et le wolof.

La dernière édition a enregistré une participation de 500 personnes. Les participants étaient de 6 nationalités différentes : le Sénégal et le Cameroun pour L’Afrique ; la France, la Belgique, et la Grèce en Europe ; et le Canada pour le continent américain.

Les poèmes des participants seront envoyés ou déposés à :
