Limit 1 haiku in English, 3-line poems only within the short-long-short pattern. Certificates for the winners. Judge is Agnieszka Żuławska-Umeda with pre-selection by Rafał Zabratyński. Results announced in November.

The Heron's Nest Illustration Contest

Submit digital photos and artwork to be considered for the cover, season-theme separators, 'overview' or 'reader choice awards' in the annual, printed anthology (published in April).

Blood Donation Haiku Contest


Limit 3 haiku on the theme of 'blood donation'. The results will be announced in February 2016.  On World Blood Donor Day - June 14 - the prizes will be presented in person to those winners able to be present. Selected haiku will be printed in a joint collection in Croatian and English, and the authors will receive a gift from the Croatian Institute for Transfusion Medicine, Zagreb.
Closes: November 30, 2015.

Samurai Haibun Competition

The theme is "the strength or power of nature", whatever it may be to you. Entries need not contain a direct kigo. Winning haibun will appear in the January 2016 issue of cattails.

IRIS Little Haiku Contest

The 4th Japan-Russia Haiku Contest

Original, previously unpublished haiku should be submitted according to the entry form. There are three sections of Japanese haiku, Russian haiku, and English haiku. One of the languages has to be chosen from among Japanese, Russian, and English in composing and submitting haiku.
